An integrated approach to care

Designated supportive living and long-term care

Designed to enhance the quality of life of seniors, our campus includes designated supportive living and long-term care living units and spaces that allow for mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. Through culturally inclusive and relevant programming, our residents enjoy activities that allow them to live an independent and fulfilling life. Our engaging spaces have been developed using best practices in care in both the design and layout, including a multi-purpose hall for community activities and events, as well as an early childhood development (ECD) centre, which features inter-generational programming and encourage volunteer engagement.

The Supportive & Long-Term Care Complex of Generations consists of 120 continuing care suites. Generations has made every effort to ensure that our residents receive care from qualified health practitioners who love their jobs and are willing to go the extra mile. We have adopted a resident-centric care plan that allows staff to offer care for our residents on their terms, including when they like to wake up, what activities they enjoy and what they like to do with their time.

  • Designated Supportive Living (DSL)

    DSL is for those seniors (and other adults who qualify) whose needs exceed what can be managed by Integrated Home Care. To qualify, seniors must have a permanent address in Alberta, and have applied for an Alberta Personal Health Care number from Alberta Health.

  • Long-Term Care (LTC)

    LTC is for those seniors whose needs exceed what can be managed by Designated Supportive Living. Our facilities are designated specifically for those with complex or unpredictable medical needs and include 24-hour assessment, care and treatment that may require a registered nurse. To qualify, applicants must have either lived in Alberta for a minimum of 1 year and in Canada for at least 10 years, OR lived in Alberta for 3 consecutive years at any time in their life.

  • Government Support for Designated Supportive Living And Long-Term Care

    All of our designated supportive living and long-term care suites are government subsidized, where the costs of care and accommodation are partially funded by Alberta Health Services and partially funded by the resident. To qualify for residency, seniors must complete an assessment with Alberta Health Services and, if qualified, are then placed on a wait list for available space. The rates paid by residents are set by AHS province-wide and subsidies may be available for eligible residents.
